Specialties
Four areas. None of them treated in passing.
These are the four areas I have trained and worked in throughout my career. If your problem is something else, I'll tell you at the first visit and point you in the right direction.
01Medical and surgical retina
My specialty for 24 years.
Some retinal diseases progress without symptoms until your sight has already suffered. Getting there in time changes the outcome. I treat with intravitreal injections and laser, and when needed I operate with vitrectomy.
02Glaucoma
It neither hurts nor warns you. That's why it has to be looked for.
It damages the optic nerve little by little, and by the time you notice, some sight has already gone. I detect it with OCT of the nerve, visual field testing and gonioscopy, and I control it with drops and laser. If your father, mother or a sibling has glaucoma, your risk is higher: get checked even if you see well.
03Uveitis
Inflammation inside the eye that needs close follow-up.
Sometimes it appears on its own and sometimes it comes with a rheumatic or autoimmune disease. Well controlled, lasting damage can be avoided. If another specialist is treating you, I coordinate with them.
- Anterior, intermediate and posterior uveitis
- Uveitis linked to systemic diseases
- Inflammatory macular oedema
04Cataract with premium lenses
Removing the cataract and correcting your prescription at the same time.
With the right lens, many patients stop needing glasses for distance, and quite a few for near vision too. We choose it together based on your eye and what you do every day.
- Toric lenses for astigmatism
- Extended depth of focus lenses
- Multifocal and trifocal lenses

Technology
Seeing the retina clearly before deciding anything.
OCT shows me the retina layer by layer. That way I can see what you haven't noticed yet and compare each check-up with the last one.

OCT
Optical coherence tomography
A cross-section of the retina and optic nerve, layer by layer, in seconds and without touching the eye. It detects damage before you notice it, including glaucoma damage before it affects your field of vision.
Pars plana vitrectomy
Small-incision retinal surgery
I operate on the retina with very fine instruments. The finer they are, the less the eye is disturbed: incisions usually close without stitches and recovery is more comfortable.
- 23G
- 25G
- 27G
Phacoemulsification
Cataract surgery
Ultrasound through an incision of about 2 mm. No stitches, anaesthetic eye drops and home the same day.
Premium lenses
The highest quality
All types of high-end intraocular lenses, calculated with IOLMaster 700 biometry. We look for the one that suits your eye and the way you live.
Try the lens simulator
Also available at the clinic
Fundus photography
Photographs of the back of the eye to record the retina and compare it at each check-up.
Optic nerve OCT
Measures the fibres of the optic nerve layer by layer. It is used to diagnose glaucoma and check at each visit whether it is progressing, and also to assess inflammation and swelling of the optic nerve.
Visual field testing
Measures your field of vision. Key in glaucoma and optic nerve diseases.
ORA technology
Analyses the biomechanics of the cornea and refines the measurement of eye pressure.
Gonioscopy
A lens placed on the eye to see the angle where fluid drains out. It tells open-angle glaucoma apart from narrow-angle glaucoma.
YAG laser
Clears the capsule that sometimes turns cloudy after cataract surgery, and opens a path for fluid in narrow-angle glaucoma (iridotomy). In the clinic, in minutes.
Argon laser
Treats the retina (diabetic retinopathy, tears and other lesions best sealed early) and allows iridoplasty for narrow angles.
Contact lenses
We fit the contact lenses that best suit your eye and your daily life.
Premium lenses
See how you would see with each lens.
Drag the divider to compare a cataract with each type of lens, by day and by night. Turn on the tips to see what happens at each distance.
In the operating theatre
This is how I operate. Real footage from the microscope.
Retina
Retinal reattachment during vitrectomy
Once the vitreous is removed, the detached retina settles back into place.
Argon laser for retinal detachment
Laser sealing around the lesion so the retina stays attached.
Vitrectomy with ILM peeling
The internal limiting membrane, a very thin layer over the macula, is removed.
ILM peeling: close-up
The same step up close, with microsurgical forceps over the macula.
Cataract
Phacoemulsification of a mature cataract
The cloudy lens is broken up with ultrasound and removed.
Intraocular lens implantation
The lens goes in folded and unfolds by itself inside the eye.
Cataract surgery, step by step
Incision, opening the capsule, phacoemulsification and lens implantation.
Cataract and retina in one operation
Once the lens is in, the access ports are placed and the retina is operated on.
